Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrates His own love towards us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

The preceding verse (the 7th verse) gives us a good background about this particular verse. Man in his nature was unrighteous, not good in his works and, not lovable; however, God still sent His son do die for man. What a good show of love! Worthy of note is the fact that God didn’t wait for us (man) to be good and to be righteous before Christ died. This is unusual. It is a great love. Today, many of us want individuals who we perceive to have wronged us to show remorse before we love. This isn’t consistent with the God kind of love. The God Kind of love always loves regardless of the attitude of the other party. It is now left to the individual to receive the love and forgiveness.
Further, we can see from this scripture how God loves us so much even as a sinner to send Christ to die for us. He won’t “crucify” us today because we erred. He is always willing to forgive us—true to His nature of love. This is the truth. Also, we can now understand why Apostle John cried out in 1 John 3:1 saying, “Behold WHAT MANNER of love the Father has bestowed (lavished) on us, that we should be called children of God…” John couldn’t fathom it; it was too big for him. He cried out “What manner.” Beloved, God’s love is so great; wouldn’t you rather welcome it?
