Listing of the Day: A European Estate in the Heart of Dallas @ 1:08 am
On Nov 26, 2016
Price: $15 million
This Texas home is anything but rustic.
The elegant residence is set in the elite neighborhood of Preston Hollow. Listing agent Joan Eleazer of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty said it may be the largest estate in the neighborhood.
The more than 16,000-square-foot house sits on a 3.3-acre lot. Although the exterior of the home resembles the White House in Washington, D.C., Eleazer says the residence’s most striking feature is its château-style interior.
The sellers bought the house in 2000. It underwent a top-to-bottom renovation that took three years to complete. The owners spent years traveling the world and collecting items for the home, including antique fireplaces, furniture and chandeliers.
Eleazer described the house as being very “liveable.”
“Not every luxury home makes people feel comfortable living in it,” she said. “The layout of this particular home is well-proportioned, which makes people feel very relaxed.”
The house has four bedrooms, five full bathrooms and four partial bathrooms. It features a home theater and a wine cellar. Outdoor facilities include a tennis court, a swimming pool and a loggia with remote-operated screens. There is an outdoor kitchen and a barbecue area that can accommodate a large group of guests.
An 8-foot tall wall surrounds the home. A separate entrance for delivery services is located at the rear of the house.
The owners, who prefer not to be identified, are empty-nesters. They plan to move into a smaller house and would like to travel the world, Eleazer said.
“It was our desire to create a European estate in the heart of Dallas,” the owners told Mansion Global in an email. “We wanted our home to be an oasis - one that was elegant, yet comfortable and inviting for entertaining - but more importantly, one that would create wonderful memories for our family!”
The home hit the market about a year ago. The price was reduced from $19.5 million to $15 million roughly two months ago.
