New Pokemon Sun and Moon Details: New Pokemon, Ultra Beasts and a Pokemon Snap Style Feature Revealed @ 8:02 pm
On Sep 07, 2016
A new trailer for Pokemon Sun and Moon has introduced a raft of new details about the game, including the Poke Finder, a new mode that looks very much like Game Freak has built fan-favourite Pokemon Snap into the new games.
The Poke Finder allows players to take pictures of wild Pokemon in set locations around Alola, then have those photos rated. The better the rating, the more features are unlocked for the Finder - for instance, the ability to zoom in.
The trailer also revealed that Sun and Moon are set "12 hours apart" - essentially, while Pokemon Sun will be tied to the time on your 3DS internal clock, following a full 24-hour day/night cycle, Pokemon Moon will be shifted 12 hours ahead of that time.
As usual, there will be differences between the two games' included Pokemon - for instance, Totem Pokemon (introduced in a previous trailer) will alter, with Sun getting Gumshoos, while Moon will get the new Alolan form Raticate.
Other newly introduced Pokemon include Type: Null - a synthetically-created, Franstein's monster of a beast - and Jangmo-o, a dragon-type that looks like prime fare for cool evolutions.
The trailer also introduced an entirely new form of creature, seemingly not even referred to as Pokemon - Ultra Beasts. While multiple have been teased, the only one we've seen thus far is UB-01, a glass-like jellyfish style creature whose "movements resemble those of a young girl."
The Ultra Beasts are of interest to a new faction, the Aether Foundation, which is based on a man-made island off the Alolan archepelago. The Aether foundation will also seemingly be part of the fight against this game's villains, Team Skull.
Finally, a running quest in the game will see players collecting the mech-like Zygarde's Cells and Cores, gradually transforming it into its Complete Forme.
Pokemon news has been coming at a pace recently - we learned about early purchase bonuses at last week's Nintendo Direct, and also heard tell of a possible upcoming demo yesterday. Pokemon Sun and Moon hit the Nintendo 3DS on November 18.
