Three freight train cars are leaking hazardous materials after a CSX transportation freight train derailed Sunday morning in Northeast, D.C., according to fire department officials.

CSX tweeted that no injuries have been reported and that CSX personnel were working with first responders to assess the situation. The train derailed near 9th and Rhode Island Ave NE. Rhode Island Avenue near the tracks is currently shut down, according to D.C. fire officials.

As a precautionary measure, Red Line service is temporarily closed at the Rhode Island Metro Station and service has been suspended between NoMa and Brookland. Officials advise Metro riders to use Green Line service as an alternative.
