A Summertown, TN, man driving a farm tractor was killed after being struck by a tractor-trailer on Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release.

Kentucky State Police said Jerry S. Williams, 43, was pulling a trailer loaded with wooden pallets in right lane going west on U.S. Highway 68 in Christian County around 2:20 p.m.

Jason T. Stahl, 40, of Glasgow, KY, was approaching the tractor from behind driving his tractor-trailer. According to troopers, Stahl attempted to merge into the left lane when he saw a motorcycle approaching in the left lane. He attempted to brake to avoid colliding with the farm tractor, but rear-ended the tractor, causing Williams to be ejected.

The tractor-trailer came to rest on the westbound shoulder of the roadway while the tractor came to rest on its side in the ditch off the westbound side of the road. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. Stahl was not injured. The collision remains under investigation by the KSP.
